Lanford Wilson's

The Rimers of Eldritch

(2002)

Calhoun Theatre brought Lanford Wilson's powerful and poetic drama The Rimers of Eldritch to the Black Box for eight performances September 26 through October 6.

Wilson's first masterpiece, The Rimers of Eldritch uses events surrounding a murder to expose the sinister truths hiding in the shadows of small-town America.  Seventeen actors remain onstage for the entire play as light changes shift the scene from one locale to another, backward and forward in time, revealing the fragments of the characters' lives as the story draws to a chilling and inevitable conclusion.

Sad, sometimes funny, and always moving, The Rimers of Eldritch was called by The New York Times "a powerful look at intolerance, jealousy, hypocrisy, and blind conformity."
