The Story (See Dates)

Two sets of identical twins, separated at birth, end up in the same town on the same day wearing identical outfits.  Unlikely?  Definitely.  Impossible?  Surely.  But the young William Shakespeare took this unbelievable plot, worked his magic, and came up with one of the funniest and most widely produced plays ever written:  The Comedy of Errors.

This year's Calhoun Shakespeare production was this fast-paced romp of misunderstandings and mistaken identity, as the people of Ephesus - and the twins themselves! - keep confusing one twin for his brother.

In addition to twelve public performances, our students did  ten shows for area schools as part of our Shakespeare for Schools program.  Now in its tenth year, Shakespeare for Schools offers a unique educational experience for young people and includes a teacher guide published by Calhoun Theatre for each Shakespeare production.  Many of the fifteen schools who participated stayed after the play for a discussion with the cast and crew, and some also visited other Fine Arts programs while they were on campus.

The Comedy of Errors runs just under 90 minutes with no intermission.
