Calhoun's 1995 season concluded with the regional premiere of
Alan Ayckbourn's A SMALL FAMILY BUSINESS. A hilarious yet troubling satire on modern
British morality, Calhoun adapted the play to the U.S. and set it in Memphis. Always one
of theatre's most innovative playwrights, Ayckbourn was in one of his darker moods with
this thought-provoking masterpiece. Ayckbourn's set enabled the action to take place
simultaneously in up to four different locations, concluding with a violent yet humorous
ending that leaves audience members questioning many of their values. The play was presented in proscenium in the Black Box and given a six-show July run. |
